Founding Members of the Parent Advocacy Council
Barbara Leavitt has been a Parent Leader for the past thirty – plus – years. Her favorite thing is spending the entire day with her four wonderful daughters. They are the loves of her life and her greatest teachers. She believes that parenting is an amazing journey that has formed the person she is today, and the reason she chooses to support families wherever and whenever she can.
Barbara is the Community Engagement lead for United Way of Utah County, and through this avenue, she has been able to create change that has been recognized both locally, and nationally. Her work in bringing Help Me Grow to Utah and working to meld it with the 211 resource and referral line, has been instrumental in building support for parents. She is a master builder, and continues to motivate and encourage people everywhere to recognize that the parents voice is the most important thing in their child’s life.
Through Barbara’s life example and passion for her work, Janae Moss’ fire was ignited and led her to begin creating the Parent Advocacy Council, alongside many parent leaders.
Janae Moss has experienced parenting on many different levels, including adoption, foster care, step parenting and as a mother to her own biological children. All total, she has six daughters and one son. Through the years, she has become increasingly devoted to helping parents get support through every way possible. Through “Help Me Grow,” she identified the perfect vehicle for her passion and was excited to help lead as a parent champion. Janae enjoys spreading the word about the many amazing services available to parents through educational family events and non-profit communities. Currently Janae serves as a “Parent Champion” of Help Me Grow Utah and is the chair elect of United Way of Utah County. Her biggest passion is her family and working in the community through building the Parent Advocacy Council.
